Reporting to the Services Superintendent, the incumbent will provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department, handling tasks like maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, managing HR documents, and responding to employee inquiries. This role ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of the HR function, helping to maintain data integrity and compliance.
This is a FIFO position on a 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster (the roster will be amended during the operational phase of the project). Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
Key roles and responsibilities include
- Employee record management:
Maintaining and updating employee records, both physical and electrical, and managing HR databases.
- Recruitment support:
Posting job ads, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and assisting with the onboarding of new hires.
- Documentation and reporting:
Preparing HR-related documents such as contracts and letters, compiling reports, and ensuring all documents are organized and filed correctly.
- Administrative tasks:
Scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and providing general administrative support to the HR department.
- Employee support:
Serving as a point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures and assisting with payroll-related tasks like verifying timesheets.
- Compliance and data integrity:
Ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures and maintaining the accuracy of HR data.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Behaviour consistent with WML’s Values
- Five (5) years relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
- A tertiary qualification or TAFE qualification in Human Resources related discipline
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working on FIFO roles
- Previous relevant work experience in mining or heavy industry, on site.
- Excellent computer and writing skills, attention to detail and data entry skills
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Open to people and willing to help outside of usual responsibilities.
- Be able to work with people with diverse backgrounds
