HSE SPECIALIST
The Safety, Quality & Compliance Division is seeking for a suitable Health, Safety & Environment Specialist based in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Manager Safety & Quality, your primary responsibility will be for developing and maintaining ongoing Health, Safety and Environment programs and systems.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining HSE documents (including manuals, policies and procedures).
- Developing, maintaining and delivering HSE activities for the Company including fire procedures and first aid programmes.
- Providing direction to the Company’s OH&S Nurse regarding operation of the Company’s clinic and its programme / activities.
- Conducting HSE occurrence investigations and assessments and providing reports to management.
- Coordinating or taking part in safety and quality audits.
- Managing the Drug and Alcohol testing programme and assisting with testing as required programme.
- Carrying out workplace inspections and surveys to identify hazards and associated risks and draw up plans to mitigate those risks.
- Producing regular and ad hoc HSE reports and statistics to management.
- Providing advice / recommendations to management on HSE aspects.
- Participating in tool box meetings and assisting departments in executing any HSE related action items.
- Keeping PNG Air employees up to date on HSE issues as directed by the management.
- Carrying out HSE inductions for new employees and visitors
- Carrying out HSE refresher training for employees
- Ensuring the HSE database is updated and maintained at all times.
- Scheduling HSE Review meetings
- Participating in CERP Response Teams as designated
- Developing JSAs and conducting JSA Training
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Science or equivalent
- Must possess a Diploma in HSE or equivalent qualification
- HSE Workplace qualifications and certificates
- Lead Auditor training in Quality Auditing
- Quality Management Systems Auditor/Lead Auditor course
- First Aid Training Certificate
- Basic Emergency Response Training
- Must have demonstrated experience in practical implementation of Workplace Health and Safety
- Must have more than three years working experiences in HSE Management
- Possess effective communication and leadership skills and be a team player
- Able to demonstrate a high level of analytical skills
