Monier Limited, the single largest producer, supplier and distributer of construction materials and building products in PNG is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and highly motivated individual for the following position:
HSEQ Systems Advisor / Trainer
To assist and support the HSEQ Supervisor with company operations in terms of implementation of HSEQ policies and programs at the operational levels. Be out there at the operational levels to advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (purposely to prevent accidents and incidents from happening) as in, conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures, and update according to company procedures and legislations. Identify HSEQ training needs, inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity, oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc, stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy, record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims and prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
Duties include;
- Conduct HSEQ inductions for new, hired or contractors.
- Develop HSEQ Related Training packages and deliver within Monier.
- Facilitate and coordinate Prestart Meetings & Tools box meetings.
- Safety Data and Records updating and keeping.
- Conduct Investigation, Root Cause Analysis during accidents/ incidents.
- Provide Technical Reports
- Technical Advisor to all HSEQ committee and staff in Monier by providing clear interpretations of HSEQ Legislations
- Coordinate HSEQ activities within Monier Divisions and Groups
- Coordinate HSEQ weekly and monthly Inspection.
- Conduct Breath Alcohol Testing using alcohol tester.
- Support facilitation, development and implementation of Job Safety Analysis
- Monitor and verify Safe Operating Procedures are followed.
- Monitor and control environmental pollution- especially dust, concrete washouts, oil spill, chemical spill, wastewater, solid and liquid waste.
- Maintain and update environmental aspects and impacts register.
- Coordination of operational work permits and observations of high-risk jobs such as confined space and hot work before giving authorization and permit to do the task.
- Assist Driving instructor in recruiting new/ hired drivers.
- Liaise with respective supervisors or managers in each division base on the inspection and observation to correct any issues regarding safety and environment in each division within the company premises.
- Monitor all corrective and preventative actions are completed on time.
- Enforce company site safety rules and regulations at site.
- Conducting safety toolbox meeting to all project workers prior to start of work together with field supervisors.
- Participate in weekly safety audit together with all members of safety committee.
- Ensure that all firefighting equipment is always in excellent condition.
- Provide advice and counsel to all employees regarding compliance with site safety requirements of the project.
- Supervised the preparation of various safety signs and installation of safety barricades as required at site.
- Identifying hazards within the company premises including any company vehicles and report to the Divisional Managers/Supervisors for corrective actions.
Site Specific Duties Includes:
- Enforce Company Site HSEQ Rules and regulations.
- Conducting Safety toolbox meetings to all projects sites prior to start of work together with field supervisor.
- Participate in Monthly safety workplace audit together with managers/ supervisors
- Participate in Monthly and weekly safety committee meeting with all members.
- Administer the preparation and monitoring of work permits prior to start of operation as required by company, contractors or clients.
- Ensure all firefighting equipment’s are in excellent condition at all times.
- Provide advice and counsel to all the employees regarding compliance with site safety requirements of the company operations.
- Preparation of the safety statistics and updating of project safety information board
- Assist and conduct inspection for all the safety gears, potable power tools and hand tools on a monthly basis with the support of qualified competent team.
- Supervised the preparation of various safety signs and installation of safety barricades as required in the work site.
- Assist Driving Instructor in recruiting newly hired drivers.
- Operational site visits for verification and collection of safety functional statistics and updating of main Monier’s HSEQ statistics database and reporting’s
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Diploma/Specialized Training in Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) Level four (4)
- Strong Safety Knowledge with Practical Skills.
- Good experience in Industrial Safety
- A 1st Degree in engineering would be an advantage.
- 2 – 3 plus years work experiences in Manufacturing and Construction Industries
- Road Constructions
- Manufacturing Plant Operation and
- Quarry areas respectively
