HSSE Officer

The role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) systems across Ahi Group of Companies, Lae, Morobe Province.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist to develop, implement, and maintain integrated health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems and policies in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Identifying, evaluating, and controlling risks related to health, safety, environment, and quality.
• Working with Teams to conduct thorough analytic jobs and tasks to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure safe work practices.
• Ensure that full compliance with environmental regulations corporate standards within PNG legal requirements.
• Investigate all safety-related incidents, injuries, and environmental issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver training programs on health, safety, and environmental procedures to all staff, contractors, stakeholders and promote a proactive safety-focused culture throughout the organization.
• Developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting drills, and coordinating emergency situations for site specific risks.

• Oversee hazardous waste management, ensure proper record-keeping, and drive environmental sustainability efforts and policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in Environmental Science and/or Occupational Health and Safety or related field,
• Safety related certification or equivalent,
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in HSSE related roles;
• Ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and non-verbal means and with sound writing skills
• Excellent Team Player
• Preferably proficient in MYOSH Software and MS Applications
