HSSEQ Coordinator

The role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) systems across Ahi Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist to develop, implement, and maintain integrated health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems and policies in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Identifying, evaluating, and controlling risks related to health, safety, environment, and quality.
• Assist work teams in conducting thorough analysis of specific jobs and tasks to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure safe work practices.
• Ensure full compliance with PNG legal requirements and corporate standards, including environmental regulations.
• Conduct routine health, safety, and quality checks and audits to ensure compliance, and prepare regular reports on performance, statistics, and identified improvement areas for senior management.
• Investigate all safety-related incidents, injuries, and environmental issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver training programs on health, safety, and environmental procedures to all staff, contractors, stakeholders and promote a proactive safety-focused culture throughout the organization.
• Promotes and assist to build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, senior management, contractors, clients, and regulators to effectively implement and review HSSEQ requirements.
• Developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting drills, and coordinating emergency situations for site specific risks.
• Oversee hazardous waste management, ensure proper record-keeping, and drive environmental sustainability efforts and policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Environmental Science and/or Occupational Health and Safety or related field,
• Safety related certification or equivalnt;
• Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in HSSEQ related roles;
• Two (2) years experience in same roles
• Ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and non-verbal means and with sound writing skills
• Excellent Team Player and with proven leadership and coaching ability
• Preferably proficient in MYOSH Software and MS Application
