HSSEQ Manager

The role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) systems across Ahi Group. He will also lead the Management to promote safety in people and culture and the lead driver to ensure awareness and consistency in overall safety culture, incident learning, and risk controls in the whole organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and maintain integrated health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems and policies in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Identifying, evaluating, and controlling risks related to health, safety, environment, and quality.
• Assist work teams in conducting thorough analysis of specific jobs and tasks to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure safe work practices.
• Ensure full compliance with PNG legal requirements and corporate standards, including environmental regulations.
• Conduct routine health, safety, and quality checks and audits to ensure compliance, and prepare regular reports on performance, statistics, and identified improvement areas for senior management.
• Investigate all safety-related incidents, injuries, and environmental issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver training programs on health, safety, and environmental procedures to all staff, contractors, stakeholders and promote a proactive safety-focused culture throughout the organization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, senior management, contractors, clients, and regulators to effectively implement and review HSSEQ requirements.
• Developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting drills, and coordinating emergency situations for site specific risks.
• Oversee hazardous waste management, ensure proper record-keeping, and drive environmental sustainability efforts and policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Environmental Science and/or Occupational Health and Safety or related field,
• Safety Certificate 4 or equivalent in Workplace Safety;
• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in HSSEQ related roles;
• Three (3) years experience in same roles
• Ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and non-verbal means and with sound writing skills
• Excellent Team Player and with proven leadership and coaching ability
• Preferably proficient in MYOSH Software and MS Application
