Joint Venture Port Services under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual for the position of a HSSEQ Officer. You will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of safety reporting. Duties include the coordination and complying of accurate incident, near miss and monthly sustainability reports to senior management.

Role Description

This is a full-time role based in Kimbe, West New Britain Province. As a HSSEQ Officer, your primary responsibilities are as follows;

• Actively manage information coming from smaller locations (incident reports, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and internal and external audits).
• Promote and advise on safety programs and training.
• Follow up and resolve non- conformance from safety audits and incident reporting.
• Ensure communication between staff and management on safety reporting outcomes.
• Instruct and lead staff in performing safety observation audits.
• Ensure insurance (workers com & MVIL) STC legal departments are informed in a timely manner on incidents that have occurred.
• Ensure time frames for reporting are met.
• Proactively improving safety reporting within JVPS Kimbe operations. The role extends to ensuring accurate filing and archiving of Company records.

Required Experience

Significant experience (Minimum 2 years) in reporting and safety management and including:

• Experience in similar role, HSSEQ
• Riskware system experience

Qualifications and Key Competencies

• Certificate in Safety level 1,2,3 & 4.
• Relevant ace accredited incident and investigation training
• Exposure to HSSEQ processes and policies, preferably within a multi-site environment
• Any other related relevant qualification in specialist OH &S areas e.g. Certificate in Training & Assessment, Auditing etc.
• HONEST, high level of Integrity, Confidentiality, Accuracy, and professionalism
• Deadline oriented, attention to detail.
