ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Human Capital, the Human Capital Officer is responsible for supporting the Human Capital Department in implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, and contributing to recruitment, onboarding, and employee development. This role plays a key part in maintaining an efficient, compliant HR function while promoting a positive and engaging workplace culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support end-to-end recruitment processes, including job advertising, screening, interview coordination, and reference checks
  • Facilitate onboarding processes, including induction and documentation for new employees
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR-related queries and provide guidance on policies and procedures
  • Assist in managing employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR compliance with company policies and labour laws
  • Support training and development activities and track employee participation
  • Support performance management processes, including appraisals and development planning
  • Prepare HR reports on key metrics such as turnover, attendance, and recruitment
  • Analyse HR data to identify trends and recommend improvements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR or related role, preferably in a generalist capacity
  • Sound knowledge of PNG Labour Laws and Employment Act
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (experience with iChris HR software is an advantage)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret HR data and support decision-making
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
