The Role
Human Resource Superintendent
Reporting to the Manager HSEC, the incumbent will lead, plan and implement HR Policies, operations and employee relations, ensuring legal compliance and strategic alignment with organizational goals.
Key responsibilities will include overseeing recruitment, payroll, benefits performance management, training and managing industrial relations.
This is a FIFO position on a 4weeks on, 2 weeks off roster (the roster will be amended during the operational phase of the project). Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Policy & Compliance
Develop, enforce and update HR policies to ensure compliance with labour laws and legislation
- Employee Relations
Handle disciplinary hearings and employee grievances.
- Operations Management
Oversee day-to day HR operations, including payroll and HR systems
- Strategic Support
Provide advice to line management on manpower planning, budgeting and organizational development
- Talent & Training
Facilitate recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and employee training initiatives
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Behavior consistent with WML’s Values
- 5-8 years relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field
- Strong knowledge of Labour legislation, excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience working on FIFO roles
- Previous relevant work experience in mining or heavy industry, on site
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Open to people and willing to help outside of usual responsibilities
- High integrity, honesty and ability to maintain confidentiality
