We currently have a vacancy for Internal Audit Staff to join our already strong and Finance Team in Lae. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful incumbent will be evaluating the effectiveness of the organization’s internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices.

This position involves conducting audits, analyzing processes, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Audit Execution:
    1. Assist in planning and executing internal audits across various departments.
    2. Conduct fieldwork, including data gathering, testing, and documentation of findings.
    3. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Data Analysis:
    1. Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, irregularities, and areas for improvement.
    2. Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to management.
  • Reporting:
    1. Assist in the preparation of comprehensive audit reports, summarizing findings, risks, and recommendations.
    2. Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Risk Assessment:
    1. Participate in risk assessment activities to identify potential areas of vulnerability and recommend controls to mitigate risks.
    2. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in internal auditing.
  • Collaboration:
    1. Work closely with other departments to understand their processes and provide guidance on internal controls.
    2. Foster a cooperative relationship with management and staff to promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement. Reporting issues or concerns about outcomes, improvements, working conditions, use of equipment, systems and processes, or health and safety, to management

To be considered for the role, you will need to have/ be:

  • Education:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  1. Previous experience in internal audits, external audit, or accounting is preferred, but not required for entry-level positions.
  • Certifications:
  1. Certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), or similar is a plus.
  • Skills:
  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with audit software is a plus.
  4. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
