Monier Limited the single largest producer, supplier and distributor or construction materials and building products in PNG is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and highly motivated individual for the following position:
Inventory Accountant
This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory-related financial records by overseeing all inventory accounting processes, including transaction recording, reconciliation, and variance analysis. The role supports effective inventory management by collaborating with production, procurement, and finance teams to maintain accurate stock levels, ensure compliance with GAAP, and provide actionable insights for cost control and process improvement. This position plays a critical role in aligning inventory practices with Monier Ltd objectives, ensuring efficient use of resources, and supporting informed decision-making within our manufacturing environment.
Duties Include:
Inventory Data Accuracy & Integrity
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory records by maintaining consistent processes for tracking, recording, and reconciling stock levels.
Stock Monitoring and Reporting
- Perform monthly stock take to verify physical stock against system records.
- Investigate and analyze variances between actual stock and system records, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Generate weekly production & sales entries and ensure alignment with financial and operational records.
Transaction and Adjustment Oversight
- Process and validate stock and raw material adjustments, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Manage and document internal material transfers across divisions.
Coordination with Production Teams
- Collaborate with production managers to ensure accurate and timely provision of inventory-related data, facilitating effective reporting and analysis.
- Update Bill of Resources (BoR) as needed, ensuring all materials are accounted for in production cost estimations.
Inventory Analysis and Reconciliation
- Conduct detailed inventory analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, or discrepancies.
- Reconcile finished stock records with production output to ensure data accuracy.
Procedure Development and Compliance
- Maintain and refine inventory procedures in alignment with company policies and industry best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management processes.
- Handle other tasks as assigned by the Inventory Manager, Financial Manager/Controller
Qualification & Experience Required:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or production-focused environment.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, with advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Outlook.
- Hands-on experience with ERP Accounting software, such as MAJIK.
- Proven ability to meet assigned deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Capable of preparing, reconciling, and analyzing inventory-related data.
- Understanding of inventory accounting practices and their application in a manufacturing business.
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, when required by business needs.
