Inventory Lead Hand

BNG Trading Company Limited is seeking an Inventory Lead Hand for the Distribution Centre operations of its subsidiary, Papua Niugini Freezers, in Port Moresby. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, safeguarding stock integrity, and supporting effective inventory control. The successful candidate will lead the Inventory team’s day-to-day work and work closely with Warehouse, Dispatch, Production, QA/QC, and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Inventory team’s daily work, providing guidance and coaching to team members.
• Process and check warehouse management system transactions so stock movements are recorded accurately and on time.
• Compare physical stock with system balances; investigate discrepancies, identify root causes and follow through on corrective actions.
• Conduct cycle counts, stocktakes, variance checks and stock investigations.
• Maintain records of stock movements, transfers, adjustments, returns, damages and variances.
• Ensure FIFO and FEFO stock rotation practices are followed and monitor short-dated, expired, damaged, blocked and quarantined stock.
• Check that movements between Warehouse, Production, Dispatch and other storage locations are recorded correctly.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly inventory reports and escalate significant discrepancies, system issues and operational concerns.
• Follow company procedures and food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work closely with operational teams while maintaining sound inventory controls and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage.
• Experience in inventory control, warehousing, supply chain or distribution centre operations.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Sound knowledge of stock control, cycle counting, stock rotation and FIFO and FEFO principles.
• Experience with a warehouse management, ERP or other inventory system.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with several operational departments.
• Ability to meet operational deadlines and take ownership of accurate records and results.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting.
