Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient IT Technician to join our team in Lae. MasterSystem Technologies provides high-stakes technical solutions—including GPS tracking (FleetMaster), fuel management (FuelMaster), and remote monitoring (OilMaster).

In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both internal office infrastructure and the specialized field hardware that powers our industrial technology solutions. You will play a critical role in ensuring data accuracy and system reliability for our clients in the mining, transport, and petroleum sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• System Installation: Install and configure GPS tracking units, fuel level sensors, and remote monitoring hardware on-site and in-vehicle.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues both internally and for client-facing technical systems.

• Network Maintenance: Manage and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and cloud-based data transmissions for real-time tracking systems.

• Technical Support: Provide high-level technical support to clients, ensuring their dashboards (FleetMaster/FuelMaster) are reporting data accurately.

• System Upgrades: Perform regular firmware updates and hardware migrations to ensure all systems are operating at peak performance.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of technical configurations, installations, and repairs.

Required Experience & Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of GPS/GNSS technology, telematics, and industrial sensors.

• Network & Hardware: Hands-on experience with routers, switches, servers, and IoT device configuration.

• Diagnostic Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems and electrical wiring (particularly in a fleet/vehicle context).

• Software Competence: Familiarity with SQL databases, cloud-based reporting platforms, and basic API integrations.

• Field Readiness: Willingness to travel to client sites, including industrial workshops and remote mining environments, to perform installations and repairs.

• Communication: Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

• 3+ years of experience in a technical support or field technician role, ideally within an industrial or logistics environment.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA A+, or similar) are highly regarded.

• Valid driver’s license is essential.
