JANITOR/CLEANER

Our Property portfolio is seeking to recruit a Janitor/Cleaner that is pro-active, experienced in hygiene prac tices, a fast learner, with a customer focused can-do attitude who can follow instructions well.

JOB SCOPE

The Janitor/Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across facilities and managed properties. The role supports daily property operations by ensuring all common areas, offices, restrooms, and external areas are kept clean, presentable, and compliant with health and safety standards.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Clean and maintain offices, lobbies, corridors, stairways, lifts, and common areas.
2. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors as required.
3. Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms, washrooms, and kitchenettes.
4. Empty and properly dispose of waste and recyclables.
5. Clean windows, doors, walls, glass panels, and fixtures.
6. Maintain cleanliness of external areas such as entrances, walkways, and car parks (where applicable).
7. Support cleaning requirements for multiple properties under management.
8. Set up and clean meeting rooms or common areas for events, inspections, or tenant use.
9. Report maintenance issues such as leaks, damages, broken fittings, or unsafe conditions to the Facilities or Property Management team.
10. Assist during property inspections and handovers as required.
11. Maintain and properly store cleaning tools and equipment.
12. Monitor and report cleaning supply levels.
13. Use materials efficiently to avoid waste.
14. Comply with company policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
15. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Property Manager.

Safety, Health & Hygiene:

1. Follow workplace health, safety, and hygiene procedures at all times.
2. Use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery safely and correctly.
3. Prevent hazards by ensuring floors and common areas are clean and safe.
4. Wear PPE where required and maintain a clean work environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

1. Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred
2. Basic literacy and communication skills
3. Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
4. Attention to detail and cleanliness standards
5. Ability to work independently and follow schedules
6. Time management and reliability
7. Physically fit and capable of manual tasks
8. Good attitude, professionalism, and willingness to assist

Additional Requirement:

1. In excellent physical health.
2. Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks
3. Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work at heights, in confined spaces, using ladders, climb, kneel and lay flat on back or on stomach. Display strong hand-eye coordination with the physical ability to lift heavy objects, crawl, crouch, kneel, bend, stand/on your feet for long periods of time. Dealing with hazardous objects and in hazardous areas.

OTHER INFORMATION

Working hours - Monday to Friday and once a fortnight on Saturdays. Due to emergencies, work at night, or on weekends may occur from time to time. Working on public holidays may be required if the need arises. Public Holiday is paid accordingly.

Location - Kenmore Properties - 6 Mile Industrial Area

Restrictions - This is position is for candidates who are already permanently living in Port Moresby. This position is open to PNG Citizens only.

Remuneration - Will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Probation - Full time employment will be subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three (3) months.
