2. Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Junior Coating Technician to join our team. The successful candidates will assist with surface preparation, coating application, Inspection, and maintenance of equipment, steel structures, pipes, and other industrial components in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is willing to learn, develop practical technical skills, and build a career in industrial coating and surface protection.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, and abrasive blasting where trained and authorised.
• Assist in applying protective coatings, paints, primers, and other coating materials.
• Clean, maintain, and store coating tools, spray equipment, and other work materials.
• Assist with checking surface cleanliness, coating thickness, and overall coating quality.
• Follow work instructions, technical specifications, and coating procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Follow workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality assurance procedures.

4. Key Requirements

• Grade 10 or Grade 12 with a technical or trade-related background.
• A certificate or training in painting, coating, fabrication, or surface preparation is an advantage.
• Willingness to undertake on-the-job training and obtain relevant competencies.

5. Required Skills for Role;

• Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and safety instructions.
• Physically fit to undertake coating and surface preparation duties.
• Responsible, punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious.

Location: 111 Napa Napa Rd, Motukea, Port Moresby

Transport: Provided to and from work via designated pick-up point.
