JOIN OUR TEAM | CRANE OPERATOR
We are a major construction company based in Lae, Morobe Province, delivering steel fabrication, building & construction, and heavy transport across Papua New Guinea. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Crane Operator to join our Plant & Hire Division.
This is a Lae-based position reporting directly to the Plant & Hire Division Manager
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of cranes in support of construction and lifting activities, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, equipment care, and operational performance.
What You'll Do
- Operate designated cranes in a safely, efficiently and within required timeframe.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks and site inspections.
- Asses load and prepare lifting/load plans for crane hire jobs.
- Operate crane according to signals and instruction from Rigger.
- Ensure cranes and associated equipment operate within approved safe working limits.
- Guide and mentor trainee operators.
- Comply with company WHS/HSE procedures and site safety requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Grade 10 certificate
- Recognised Certificate in Crane Operation and Rigging
- Must have C1/C6 Crane Ticket (CO Ticket will be highly regarded)
- Current Class 7 Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ work experiences in operating 100-tonne or 170 tonne cranes
- Sound ability to read and interpret crane manuals and load charts.
- Strong knowledges of lifting procedures, load planning, rigging.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health. Safety and environmental standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
