JOIN OUR TEAM | CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMMER/SCHEDULER
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Programmer/Scheduler to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of Hornibrook NGI’s construction, fabrication, and mining support projects.
The successful candidate will support drive productivity, optimize resource utilization, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project, including work breakdown structures (WBS), activities, logic links, durations, and critical path analysis.
- Produce baseline schedules, progress updates, look-ahead programmes, and recovery schedules as required.
- Resource-load schedules and coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and internal departments (Operations, Fabrication, Logistics) to ensure realistic resource allocation.
- Track actual progress against planned progress, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and issue regular schedule reports, S-curves, histograms, and dashboards for management and project stakeholders.
- Participate in project planning meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions.
- Support the preparation of tender schedules and programme submissions for new work.
- Ensure schedules comply with contract requirements and company standards.
- Assist with claim preparation and delay analysis when required.
- Maintain version control and proper documentation of all schedule files.
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Experience working in Papua New Guinea or similar remote/project environments.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 (advantageous but not essential).
- Previous experience in mining infrastructure, heavy civil, or industrial projects.
- Proven experience as a Construction Scheduler or Planning Engineer on construction, civil, or mining-related projects.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project (essential) – ability to build complex schedules, apply constraints, resource load, track progress, and produce professional reports.
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, critical path method (CPM), and project controls principles.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

- Able to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Professional and confident when dealing with site personnel, subcontractors, and management.
