About the role

In this role you will report to the Senior Metallurgist and oversee process plant operations whist collaboratively working with the wider processing team to ensure safety standards are met whilst gold recovery is optimised.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Undertake metallurgical work for defined periods as allocated in all areas of the process plant, crushers CIL etc
• Acquire a high level of the process plant and operational issues.
• To monitor performance of the assigned area and identify and solve process problems in a timely manner to minimise impact on process plant performance Lead and report on studies relevant to production improvement, cost saving initiatives and project development.
• Work in collaboration with Plant Metallurgist or designate to ensure that the entire ore processing operation meets environmental regulations/standards.
• Identify opportunities for improving plant process operation or reducing operating costs and undertake project work to support and implement improvement ideas.
• Contribute to metallurgical accounting and reporting.
• Encourage all personnel in the Metallurgy section to comply with all K92 policies and procedures
• Accept personal responsibility for following up on training and development needs identified for you in the Performance review process.
• Meet or exceed maintenance on-job OH&S standards, by carrying out all tasks to K92 Safety requirements and reporting OH&S issues.
• Actively participate in a culture of best OH&S practice in the work group through leading by example, mentoring and development of junior work-group personnel.
• Assist the Plant Metallurgist in implementing and supporting OH&S continuous improvement initiatives in the workplace.
• Meet or exceed all OH&S Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets such as Job Safety Observations, JSEA, 274 Inspections etc.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential you will have some or all the following.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.
• Some prior work experience in a Plant Metallurgist role during University studies (Industrial Training).
• Able to organize, plan, and work with minimal supervision
• Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English.
• A demonstrated ability in analytical problem-solving skills together with an aptitude to solve technical difficulties.
• Demonstrable expertise in at least one key area of plant operation: (crushing, grinding, POX, CIL, oxygen plant) is essential.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of computerized control systems in the plant.
