The Organisation:
Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.
The Role:
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Science & Technology, the Laboratory Technician will be required to perform responsibilities outlined below.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor the use of science equipment and supplies.
- Assist science faculty in all aspects of scientific equipment.
- Prepare equipment for class experiments.
- Set up and dismantle equipment for class laboratory exercises.
- Demonstrate practical and experimental procedures under the guidance of the Course Lecturer and provide technical assistance in tutorials/lab sessions as required.
- Construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Ensure that the laboratory is well stocked and resourced.
- Prepare specimens, samples and solutions.
About you:
Qualifications and Skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science.
- 2-3 years of minimal experience working in a Laboratory Environment
- Proficient in laboratory techniques
- Analytical skills
- Excellent record keeping and documentation
- Regulatory and safety knowledge
- Attention to detail
