About the Role

PNGUNRE invites applications from qualified Accounting and Finance content specialists for appointment as Lecturer I or Lecturer II in the Department of Business & Economics.

The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, research, supervision, and industry engagement in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance disciplines. The role emphasises industry-aligned curriculum delivery, applied research, and professional mentorship of students and junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance courses.
• Supervise and mentor final-year undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Conduct and publish scholarly research in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or related fields.
• Contribute to curriculum development, course review, and accreditation processes.
• Establish and maintain strong industry linkages with professional bodies (e.g. CPA PNG), government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector.
• Support student industry placements, applied learning, and community engagement initiatives.
• Mentor tutors, technical officers, and graduate academic staff.
• Undertake additional academic and administrative duties as directed by the Head of Department and Dean.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills (Grouped)

• Master’s degree or PhD in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
• Professional Accounting certification such as CPA or CA is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in Accounting and Finance systems and tools, including Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Advanced Excel, and familiarity with financial markets and Bloomberg concepts.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ teaching experience at university level (or equivalent), or a doctoral qualification acceptable to the University.
• Relevant post-qualification professional experience in research, consultancy, or industry practice.
• Evidence of research output and publications in reputable journals is a strong advantage.
• Strong communication, mentoring, stakeholder engagement skills and proven leadership experience.
• High standards of professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and commitment to academic excellence.
