About the Role

PNGUNRE invites applications from ICT content specialists for appointment as Lecturer I or Lecturer II in Computer Science and Business Information Systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of accredited, outcomes-based ICT programs aligned with international computing education standards (such as ACM/IEEE curriculum frameworks) and industry best practice. The role emphasises curriculum quality, applied research, digital skills development, and graduate employability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science, ICT, and Business Information Systems in line with approved curricula and accreditation standards.
  • Design and review course materials to ensure alignment with learning outcomes, assessment integrity, and graduate attributes.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate research, capstone projects, and applied ICT initiatives.
  • Conduct and publish research in Computer Science, Information Systems, digital transformation, or applied ICT for development.
  • Contribute to program accreditation, quality assurance reviews, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Integrate industry-relevant tools, platforms, and emerging technologies into teaching and learning.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with industry, government agencies, and research organisations to support student placements and collaborative projects.
  • Mentor tutors, technical officers, and early-career academics.
  • Undertake other academic and administrative duties as directed by the Head of Department and Dean.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (Honours), Master’s degree, or PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, ICT, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICT accreditation requirements, outcomes-based education, and curriculum mapping.
  • Strong grounding in core computing areas such as programming, systems analysis, databases, networks, data analytics, information systems, or digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in relevant teaching and analytical tools, including Learning Management Systems, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and related digital technologies.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ tertiary-level teaching experience, or a doctoral qualification acceptable to the University.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience in research, consultancy, ICT practice, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in ICT, Computer Science, or Information Systems is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High standards of professionalism, academic integrity, punctuality, and ethical conduct.

K48,382.26 – K59,132.71
K52,941.42 – K64,707.20
(plus applicable allowances and benefits)
