About the Role

PNGUNRE invites applications from qualified content specialists in Economics, Statistics, and Business Management for appointment as Lecturer I or Lecturer II in the Department of Business & Economics.

The successful candidates will contribute to teaching, research, supervision, consultancy, and industry engagement across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This role is suited to academics with strong analytical capability, applied research orientation, and a commitment to industry-aligned teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures and tutorials in Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and related disciplines.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Conduct and publish research in Economics, Business Management, Resource Economics, or applied statistics.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, course review, and academic quality assurance.
  • Establish and maintain linkages with industry bodies, government agencies, NGOs, and research institutions.
  • Support student industry placements, applied learning, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Mentor tutors, technical officers, and early-career academics.
  • Perform other academic and administrative duties as directed by the Head of Department and Dean.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills (Grouped)

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Economics, Statistics, Business Management, Resource Economics, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CPA, CA or other relevant professional qualifications) are desirable where applicable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in economic analysis, advanced statistics, quantitative methods, modelling, and Advanced Excel or similar analytical tools.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ university-level teaching experience or a doctoral qualification acceptable to the University.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience in research, consultancy, policy analysis, or industry practice.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is a strong advantage.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, stakeholder engagement skills and proven leadership experience.
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and commitment to academic excellence.

K48,382.26 – K59,132.71
K52,941.42 – K64,707.20
(plus applicable allowances and benefits)
