Credit Corporation PNG is recruiting a suitable candidate for the role of Legal Officer Litigation.

As the Legal Officer Litigation, the successful candidate primary responsibility is to ensure all small loan debts owing to the Finance business are recovered in a timely manner. The Legal Officer Litigation will also support the Asset Management Unit to ensure a culture of compliance for the Finance business is robust in PNG and offer legal advice as and when required with the supervision of the Senior Legal Officer.

The role will report directly to the Senior Legal Officer, and is based in Port Moresby.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the business has effective systems, procedures, and controls for compliance with requirements and standards under the regulatory system, including risk management, anti-money laundering and data protection.
• Report to SLO on any breach or foreseeable breach and risk for the Group’s business/operation.
• Ensuring all outstanding debts owed to the CCF have been managed through the recovery action process to commence legal action.
• Report to SLO with monthly updates on activity on recovery files instituted in the District and National Courts in PNG.
• Conduct notification and reporting requirements are met.
• Maintenance of documented and effective compliance procedures consistent with internal standards, business goals and attitude to risk.
• Provide timely and quality legal advice under direction of the Senior Legal Officer or Head of Legal.
• Ensure all security lodgment for Credit/Lending are registered with the appropriate Authority.
• The jobholder will be required to perform any additional activities that are relevant to the role, as determined by the Head of Legal.

Key Competencies

• Admitted to practice law in PNG, with exposure to Statutory, Government and regulatory bodies in PNG.
• At least 1-3 years’ experience in Legal and compliance in a regulated financial service environment.
• Excellent written and oral command of English, team player.

Formal Qualification

• Bachelor’s in law from a recognized tertiary institution.
