Job Title: Licensed Electrician

We are seeking a qualified, highly skilled, and safety-focused Licensed Electrician to join our team in Port Moresby. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in compliance with national safety rules and utility guidelines. The successful candidate must hold a valid trade qualification and an official electrical regulator license.

Core Responsibilities

• Installation & Upgrades: Setup and wire electrical systems, conduits, lighting, control panels, and distribution boards according to technical layouts.
• Testing & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, isolate, and repair complex electrical faults using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, multi-meters, and insulation testers.
• Regulatory Compliance: Execute all work strictly in accordance with PNG Standard 1022 (AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules) and relevant utility requirements from PNG Power Limited (PPL).
• Maintenance Schedules: Run routine preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, commercial facilities, power generators, and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
• Hybrid Systems (Where Applicable): Install, maintain, and configure solar PV systems, controllers, and site-level hybrid or backup power setups.
• Safety Protocols: Champion site safety by enforcing strict hazards-mitigation processes, including working at heights, confined spaces, and standard isolation procedures.
• Documentation: Keep clear daily technical logs of completed works, service histories, and material requisition reports.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Mandatory Licensing: Must possess a valid, current PNG Electrical License issued by PNG Power Limited / National Energy Authority (NEA).
• Trade Certification: Successful completion of a 4-year formal apprenticeship program with a Trade Certificate in Electrical certified by the National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board (NATTB) or equivalent technical agency.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical sectors within PNG.
• Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret schematic drawings, specifications, blueprint layouts, and single-line diagrams.
• Mobility: Must possess a valid Class 1 or Class 3 PNG Driver's License.
• Professional Conduct: High level of personal integrity, sober habits, and excellent time management skills.

Preferred Skills & Assets

• Prior exposure working on remote site hybrid systems, Air-conditioning & HVAC systems.
• Strong communication skills in English to coordinate effectively across local operations teams.
