Monier Limited, the single largest producer, supplier and distributor of construction materials and building products in PNG, is seeking to recruit suitable qualified and highly motivated individual for the position:
Light Vehicle Mechanic:
To effectively carry out Diagnosis, Mechanical repairs, servicing and overhauls on a wide range of light vehicles & forklifts in accordance with Monier Quality System & OSH Policies & Procedures.
Duties include:
- Conduct Repairs and Planned Maintenance to fleet as per work assigned by workshop supervisor
- Reporting all fleet defects on a job scope sheet in detail to the Workshop Supervisor for future planned repairs
- Complete all repairs to a high standard in an efficient manner with no rework
- Testing fleet / equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
- Reference Service and repair Documentation to ensure Repairs are completed to manufactures specifications
- Assist Workshop Supervisor in Mentoring apprentices and fostering a positive team environment
- Overhaul engine assemblies, transmissions, steering, suspension, Brakes, other components and parts.
- Testing and diagnosing faults on vehicle systems, Engine & Drivetrain, Petrol & Common Rail Diesel electrical systems
- Use diagnostic equipment (Scan Tools) during diagnosis of vehicle faults
- Diagnose and repair A/C Faults, Use A/C tools and Recharge equipment
- Complete paperwork for all jobs, Repair Orders, Job Scope, JSA and work permits as required
- To maintain the workplace, vehicles & equipment in a clean & tidy condition after every repair
- Attend Breakdowns offsite when requested
- Work overtime when requested
- Actively contribute towards continuously improving the safety, quality and productivity of the team.
- Ensure all workshop equipment, tooling and equipment are in safe working condition as per OSH Policies & Procedures.
- Ensure all Vehicles and Equipment being repaired leaves the workshop in a safe and acceptable condition for operations.
Job Requirements, Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Trade qualification as (NC1, NC2, NC3) Light Vehicle Technician through a formal apprenticeship training program
- NATTB qualification preferred
- Minimum of ten (5) years’ work experience post trade in similar role
- Preference will be given for Applicants with Dealership Training with experience in Toyota branded Vehicles
- Minimum Valid PNG Class 3 license or willing to obtain
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Sound knowledge of late model common rail diesel and petrol vehicles.
- Skilled in engine and drive line diagnostic troubleshooting and repairs
- Experience with automotive scan tools and ability to diagnose auto electrical systems is desirable.
- Must be self-driven and be able to complete work in a timely manner and to high standards with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a team environment and coach apprentices / TA’s when required.
- Able to fill out service documentation.
- Minimum of Grade 10 Certificate
- Sobor habits and fit for work
- Be Reliable, on time and willing to work overtime if requested
