Operating in Papua New Guinea for over 30 years, Nestle PNG Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Line Fitter with to join our Engineering Team, based at our Lae Factory.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance & Repair Supervisor, the Line Fitter is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient factory operations. The role plays a critical part in supporting production performance and contributing to ongoing factory improvements.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Maintenance & Repair Supervisor in executing planned maintenance activities.
- Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues promptly, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Work closely with Production Supervisors during equipment start‑ups and shutdowns to ensure smooth transitions.
- Conduct daily inspections and report abnormalities to maintain the plant in optimal operating condition.
- Prepare work orders for repairs and maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks.
- Support factory improvement initiatives and participate in equipment installation projects.
- Communicate effectively with Production and Engineering Supervisors regarding equipment issues, risks, or concerns.
- Train and upskill production teams in basic equipment servicing, autonomous maintenance, and engineering best practices.
- Comply with all Company Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) policies and ensure maintenance work is carried out safely to prevent accidents and lost time injuries.
- Contribute to a safe, tidy, and hazard‑free workplace through strong housekeeping standards.
Qualification, skills, and experience:
- Certificate or Diploma in Fitting, Machining, or a related mechanical trade.
- NATTB Fitting & Machining Tradesman Certificate (an advantage).
- MIG/TIG welding skills (an advantage).
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including shift work when required.
- Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
