Operating in Papua New Guinea for over 30 years, Nestle PNG Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Line Fitter with to join our Engineering Team, based at our Lae Factory.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance & Repair Supervisor, the Line Fitter is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient factory operations. The role plays a critical part in supporting production performance and contributing to ongoing factory improvements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Maintenance & Repair Supervisor in executing planned maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues promptly, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors during equipment start‑ups and shutdowns to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Conduct daily inspections and report abnormalities to maintain the plant in optimal operating condition.
  • Prepare work orders for repairs and maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks.
  • Support factory improvement initiatives and participate in equipment installation projects.
  • Communicate effectively with Production and Engineering Supervisors regarding equipment issues, risks, or concerns.
  • Train and upskill production teams in basic equipment servicing, autonomous maintenance, and engineering best practices.
  • Comply with all Company Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) policies and ensure maintenance work is carried out safely to prevent accidents and lost time injuries.
  • Contribute to a safe, tidy, and hazard‑free workplace through strong housekeeping standards.

Qualification, skills, and experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Fitting, Machining, or a related mechanical trade.
  • NATTB Fitting & Machining Tradesman Certificate (an advantage).
  • MIG/TIG welding skills (an advantage).
  • Proven experience in maintaining and repairing production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including shift work when required.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
