Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive LOGISTICS OFFICER to manage and monitor the movement, release and maintenance of various shipping principal’s container fleet. The role entails to ensure optimal availability and positioning of containers to meet both external and internal customers while minimizing costs related to container imbalance, repair, repositioning and storage. The Logistics Control Officer plays a key role in coordinating with depots, ports, cartage suppliers to ensure efficient container operations in line with company KPIs and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Monitoring and Inventory Management
Monitor & manage daily container movements, ensuring accurate tracking of empties and FCLs units across deports, terminals and customer locations. Maintain up-to-date records of container stocks, movement, and availability. Prepare regular reports on balances, turn times, and utilization of container fleet. Coordinate with internal offices to manage container positioning and inventory levels
2. Container allocation and repositioning
Plan and coordinate container repositioning between ports and deport to meet principal and customer requirements. Analyze equipment imbalances and recommend cost-effective repositioning solutions. Coordinate with vessel operations and logistics teams to plan container loading and evacuation
3. Maintenance, Repair, and Quality Control
Oversea container inspection, repair and cleaning activities at depots. Coordinate with repair estimates and ensure all containers meet principal’s and customers quality and safety standards. Monitor repair turnaround times and ensure damaged/repaired containers are returned to service promptly. Track maintenance costs and work with vendors to ensure quality and cost efficiency
4. Depot and Vendor Coordination
Liaise with container depots, cartage teams and port operators to manage container movement and storage. Ensure accurate and timely updates from depots on gate-in/gate-out activities. Review and validate depot invoices for accuracy and compliance with contractual terms. Maintain good working relationship with third-party service providers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Mariime Studies, Supply Chain Management or related fields.
- 2-4 years of experience in container equipment control, logistics, or shipping line operations
- Strong understanding of container shipping process, depot operations, and M&R procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel,Outlook)
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
