About the role

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of drilling pads to support the Company’s exploration drilling programs. Work will be undertaken in remote, mountainous, and steep terrain, and must be carried out in strict accordance with K92 Mining site requirements, standards, and procedures.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Operate and maintain mini excavators and skid steer loaders in accordance with K92 Plant Operations & Maintenance procedures and fault reporting systems.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and basic troubleshooting on equipment to identify and address potential issues.
• Construct drill pads, helipads, and access walkways in a mountainous exploration environment.
• Monitor the condition of work pads and surrounding areas, ensuring ongoing safety and stability.
• Collaborate with Geotechnical and Drilling Supervisors to plan and optimise drill pad locations, sumps, and drainage systems.
• Respond to routine and emergency maintenance or support requests across the exploration site to minimise equipment downtime.
• Support the Exploration Supervisor in identifying and rectifying defects in equipment and work areas to optimise availability, reliability, and overall performance.
• Work closely with the Exploration Supervisor to monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to initiatives that maximise operational results, reduce risk, and support cost management objectives.
• Actively promote a safe and healthy workplace culture.
• Demonstrate personal accountability for health and safety, while reinforcing legal obligations, safe work practices, and HSE standards across the team.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within and around designated work areas.
• Ensure equipment maintenance is carried out by competent personnel in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must obtain a minimum qualification of Grade 10 or above with experience in operating with a Class 4 License that allows operation of an Excavator on public roads and must have 2+ years’ experience in operating different types of equipment. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

• Must have knowledge of small excavator performance capabilities
• Previous experience as an excavator operator smaller than 20 T
• Knowledge of exploration drilling activities
• Must have commitment to safety
• Must have ability to work autonomously independent with limited supervision
• Must demonstrate abilities to work within a team environment
• Previous experience working within the mining industry
• General knowledge of mobile equipment
