Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Maintenance Manager within the Estates & Services Department.
ESTATES & SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Maintenance Manager
The position is immediately responsible to the Head of Department and the duties include, coordinating, scheduling and managing the routine maintenance of staff housing, buildings and other facilities at the University and other college affiliates as may be required and as directed by the Head of Department.
Primary responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- coordinate and supervise maintenance and improvements as required to all university facilities, including carpentry/construction/joinery, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Carry out routine inspection and provide a schedule for maintenance of existing facilities, provide scope of works and tender documents for minor works.
- Undertake minor building and construction projects.
- Supervise maintenance contractors.
- Initiate and submit maintenance materials request for purchase.
- Provide regular maintenance reports as required.
- Prepare maintenance budget submission for the Bursar and operate within authorized funding level.
- Supervise trade staff, recommend employment/dismissal to the ED-HR.
- Ensure conditions of employment are met.
- Ensure maintenance department’s activities and conduct are in conformity with State and Local Government regulations applicable to Building Regulation, Pollution Controls and so forth.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Head of Department or the University Management.
Qualification
- The successful candidate should possess a degree qualification in Architecture and Construction Management, or any of the Engineering fields (Civil, Electrical & Mechanical) from a recognized institution.
Experience
- 5 - 10 years relevant experience especially in construction, maintenance, building and associated industries.
- Able to assist and supervise highly technical construction jobs.
- Competent in MS Office applications.

- Mature, Team Player, able to develop and maintain good working relationships between staff, students and clients.
- High standard of oral and written communication skills.
- Physically fit and in good health.
- Trustworthy and responsible.
Conditions of Service
Engineer V (Maintenance Manager) PGK53,147 - PGK64,958 per annum
Domestic Market Allowance PGK8,681 - PGK12,687 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
