About the role

The Maintenance Planner ensures that all routine maintenance activities in the Surface Maintenance are appropriately planned so that the work can progress in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, cost effective and repeatable manner.

The Maintenance Planner will:

  • Continually monitor compliance to, and optimise preventative maintenance programs and schedules, to deliver performance targets for equipment availability and reliability.
  • Provide support to other Maintenance team members (Supervisors, Technicians, other Planners) for Planning/Scheduling, standard Pronto transactions and the fundamentals of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Work with workshop Supervisors to develop, implement and optimise preventive maintenance (PM) programs for Surface assets based on RCM principles.
  • Develop and update maintenance Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), inspection sheets and checklists for PMs and other routine maintenance tasks.
  • Create and maintain Work Orders and Purchase Requisitions (materials, equipment, and services) in Pronto. Confirm that parts, specialised tools, equipment, and external labour are available prior to releasing Work Orders.
  • Work with Surface maintenance team to develop and implement a recertification/recalibration program for regulated and specialty tools/equipment as required.
  • Coordinate weekly scheduling meetings with Supervisors. Review and prioritise work to minimise impact on production. Use these forums to review and prioritise PMs, corrective work, and project work.
  • Develop and track maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) to help guide maintenance management efforts and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage a suitable Work Order backlog, normally with 2 to 4 weeks of planned work, ready to schedule and execute.
  • Update and maintain status of Work Orders in Pronto to ensure accurate backlog and history.
  • Work collaboratively with Supply/Warehouse team to ensure materials (parts), specialised equipment and contractor labour is available, when required, for all planned maintenance activities.
  • Create and maintain accurate bill of materials (BOM) and critical spares lists for all Plant Items. Submit applications for new stock items (ANSIs), as required, for new items, changes to min/max levels or changes of suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers and contractors.
  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports.
  • Contribute to the annual maintenance budgeting process and monthly cost reviews.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical trade and/or Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical) and must have 5 – 10 years experience in maintenance-focused industry, preferably in a mining environment In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

  • Technical qualification in Maintenance Planning / Asset Management.
  • Formal certificate in Advanced MS Office.
  • Minimum of 5 years ‘experience with computer-based maintenance planning/schedule (preferably in mining).
  • Sound knowledge in the use of MS Office applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook.
  • Familiarity/experience with using Pronto.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Advance MS Project skills.
  • Strong understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
