Summary

The Senior Plumber is responsible for overseeing and performing plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance tasks within the property. This role requires advanced expertise in plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and gas systems, to ensure the smooth operation of the building’s infrastructure. The Senior Plumber will lead plumbing projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure all work complies with industry standards and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plumbing Installation and Repair:
    • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including water supply lines, waste disposal systems, and related appliances and fixtures.
    • Diagnose plumbing issues and determine the most effective solutions.
    • Repair or replace broken fixtures, leaking pipes, clogged drains, and malfunctioning equipment.
  • System Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections of plumbing systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure plumbing systems are operating efficiently.
    • Maintain, repair, and install gas lines and fixtures as required.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead and coordinate plumbing projects, including new installations and major repairs, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior plumbers and maintenance staff.
    • Collaborate with other tradespeople, contractors, and team members on complex projects.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all plumbing work adheres to local, state, and national building codes and safety regulations.
    • Use and maintain plumbing tools and equipment according to safety standards.
    • Report any safety hazards or potential issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or Building Manager.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered.
    • Provide reports on the status of plumbing systems and any required maintenance to the Maintenance Supervisor or Building Manager.
    • Order and maintain inventory of plumbing supplies and materials as needed.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond to plumbing emergencies, such as burst pipes, gas leaks, or major drainage issues, in a timely and effective manner.
    • Be available for on-call duty as required, including evenings and weekends.

Job Requirements

  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in plumbing, with a strong background in both residential and commercial plumbing systems.

    Proven experience leading plumbing projects and mentoring junior staff.

  • Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
    • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Certification:

    Relevant plumbing certification or license as required by local regulations.

    Additional certifications in gas fitting or other specialized areas are a plus.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
    • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
