MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT – PORT MORESBY

High Arctic delivers tailored energy solutions across Papua New Guinea and has supported the country’s oil and gas exploration and production industry for over 17 years. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our Port Moresby–based team. Reporting to the Asset Manager, this role provides leadership and oversight of maintenance activities across our operations and is accountable for ensuring all company equipment is maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently in accordance with company systems, technical standards, and HSE requirements, while driving asset reliability, improving maintenance performance, and leading maintenance teams to achieve operational and business objectives.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provide leadership and direction to maintenance teams to ensure safe and effective execution of all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company maintenance management systems, technical standards, and procedures.
  • Plan, manage, and monitor preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Analyse maintenance performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular site and operational visits to verify standards and performance.
  • Lead equipment failure investigations, determine root causes, and implement remedial actions.
  • Support the procurement, specification, and modification of equipment in collaboration with engineering and operations.
  • Develop and maintain staff capability through coaching, training, performance management, and the Verification of Competence (VOC) process.Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability.

To succeed in this role, Candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Recognised trade qualification or engineering qualification in a mechanical or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in maintenance operations, with demonstrated leadership at supervisory or superintendent level.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems, asset reliability, and performance improvement.
  • Experience working with CMMS‑driven maintenance environments.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in safety‑critical and operationally demanding environments.

Desirable:

  • Experience in oil & gas, mining, construction, or heavy equipment operations.
  • Exposure to remote or site‑based operations in PNG.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability.
