We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our Port Moresby team. Reporting to the Asset Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing maintenance activities across High Arctic's fleet and equipment portfolio, ensuring assets are maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently to support operational performance and future growth.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a business experiencing significant growth in equipment hire activity and maintenance demand. Maintenance workloads are projected to triple across our two support bases. As Maintenance Superintendent, you will be at the forefront of this expansion, providing the leadership, structure, and technical direction required to build a high-performing maintenance function while ensuring our equipment remains safe, compliant, reliable, and ready to support our clients' operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance teams to achieve safe and efficient outcomes.
- Drive a proactive maintenance culture focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs across the fleet.
- Ensure compliance with company maintenance systems, technical standards, and HSE requirements.
- Monitor maintenance performance, analyse trends, and implement improvement initiatives.
- Lead equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Critical input in equipment procurement.
- Manage modification, overhaul, and asset life-extension projects.
- Develop workforce capability through coaching, performance management, training, and Verification of Competence (VOC) processes.
- Build strong relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders to support business objectives.
About You
You are a hands-on maintenance leader who enjoys developing people, improving asset performance, and delivering results in demanding operational environments.
You will possess:
- A recognised trade qualification or engineering qualification in a mechanical or related discipline.
- 7–10 years' experience in maintenance operations with leadership experience at Supervisor or Superintendent level.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS-driven maintenance environments, asset reliability, and maintenance best practices.
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams in safety-critical industries.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
- Experience within oil & gas, mining, construction, or heavy equipment industries.
- Previous experience in remote or site-based operations within PNG or similar environments.
