MANAGER – ACCOUNTING AND PAYMENT UNIT, FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

Reports To: Manager – Financial Administration Department

Location: POM Branch

The Accounts & Payments Unit is responsible for leading the Unit’s staff to ensure all payroll and accounting functions are executed accurately and in strict compliance with the Central Bank Act and GAAP. By overseeing the end-to-end electronic payment cycle, ensuring regular account reconciliations, maintaining the Bank’s chart of accounts, and ensuring they guarantee that all financial obligations are met within authorized limits. Beyond technical oversight, the Manager drives operational excellence by providing analytical reports to leadership, resolving client queries promptly, and utilizing the Bank’s performance management system to align staff productivity with key organizational deliverables.

Education/Qualification/Experiences/Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field
  • Affiliation with CPA PNG or CPA Australia is highly desirable.

Experiences:

  • At least 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management roles.
  • Have robust technical knowledge in financial & management accounting, audits, taxation, interpretation of financial statements and demonstration of strong analytical reporting.
  • Have sound management skills and able to manage a large Accounts Team in a proficient manner.
  • Have strong knowledge of computer application software. Experience in Oracle Financial System and Alesco Payroll System and KATS is preferable.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent planning, coordination, and strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft suites (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to proactively diagnose issues and suggest solutions will be advantageous.
