MANAGER – POLICY RESEARCH & DATA UNIT, FINANCIAL SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATION POLICY DEPARTMENT
Reports To: Manager – FSDIPD
The primary role of the Manager, Policy Research and Data Unit is to lead and manage the unit's research and data analysis activities, ensuring the timely and accurate production of high-quality research outputs that contribute to the FSDIPD's policy development and strategic objectives. The role includes providing intellectual leadership, mentoring unit staff, and fostering collaboration with other units within the FSDIPD and external stakeholders. The Unit Manager is accountable to the Department Manager, FSDIPD.
Education/Qualification/Experience/Skills/Competencies
- Master’s Degree or Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Development Economics, or related fields with a strong focus on financial sector development and innovation.
- Seven plus (+7) years’ experience in research and data analysis within the financial services industry.
- Experience in financial inclusion, FinTech, digital financial services, or related areas.
- Deep understanding of financial sector development challenges and opportunities in developing countries.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including econometrics and statistical modelling.
- Working knowledge of fintech, digital financial services, and innovative financial products and services.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting policy-relevant research and analysis.
- Familiarity with data collection methodologies and database management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills.
