We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Legal – Litigation to join our Legal team and lead our efforts in managing the company’s legal interests in litigation matters to minimize risk and ensure compliance with laws.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the incumbent will oversee the company’s litigation matters, provide strategic legal guidance, manage external counsel, and ensure effective case management. The role includes preparing for trials, representing the company in court when needed, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all company litigation matters and dispute resolution cases
• Develop and implement case strategies in consultation with the Head of Legal
• Represent the company in court, tribunals, and alternative dispute resolution forums when required
• Prepare, review, and file legal documents for litigation and court proceedings
• Manage and coordinate external legal counsel, including reviewing their advice and ensuring cost-effectiveness
• Maintain and update a litigation database, ensuring proper documentation and timely reporting
• Monitor case progress and ensure deadlines and submissions are met
• Advise business units and management on legal risks and provide proactive legal guidance
• Liaise with regulators, courts, and legal authorities on behalf of the company
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on litigation and other legal matters to the Head of Legal

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in law with certification from legal training institute.
• Must be a current Practicing Lawyer in PNG.
• Minimum of 5-7 years related work experience.
• Previous experience in litigation/contract/regulatory matters within finance and banking industry is advantageous.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication, research, organizational and analytical skills.
• Outstanding research and advisory skills
• Outstanding drafting and negotiation skills
• Regulatory monitoring and compliance.
