Marine Mechanic
(The actual marine kind)
Location: Papua New Guinea
PNG Motors is growing its marine operations and we’re looking for an experienced Marine Mechanic to support Suzuki Marine and associated marine brands across Papua New Guinea.
This is not a “close enough” role. If your marine experience starts and ends with standing near a boat, this probably isn’t for you.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing marine engines across a range of vessels and marine equipment. This includes routine servicing, mechanical repairs, fault diagnosis, engine rebuilds, cooling systems, fuel systems, and outboard engine maintenance in conditions where saltwater, heat, vibration, and weather are part of the job.
You’ll work across workshop and field environments, supporting vessels and equipment that need to perform reliably in real operating conditions. Not every job arrives neatly scheduled, and when something fails at sea, it needs to be fixed properly, not patched well enough to drift home.
You’ll be expected to work independently, follow manufacturer standards, and maintain strong safety discipline even when conditions are uncomfortable and time is tight.
Who This Suits
This role suits someone with genuine marine mechanical experience. Not automotive mechanical work with an interest in boats, but real hands-on experience with marine engines and marine servicing. You understand outboards, cooling systems, fuel systems, corrosion, and the difference between workshop theory and what survives in saltwater.
You’ll be comfortable with marine servicing, mechanical diagnostics, engine repairs, preventative maintenance, and working on equipment that operates hard and fails expensively when neglected.
Experience supporting offshore, commercial, or professional marine operations will be highly regarded.
Qualifications & Training
Formal mechanical trade qualifications are highly regarded, particularly where supported by marine experience. Manufacturer training such as Suzuki Marine or equivalent will be viewed favourably, along with any marine mechanical certifications or outboard servicing qualifications.
Why PNG Motors
PNG Motors is a well-established organisation supporting marine and mobility operations across Papua New Guinea. We work with recognised global marine brands and support customers who rely on their equipment to work properly in real conditions.
You’ll be trusted to do the job properly, backed by a professional technical team, and given work that values skill, judgement, and reliability.
How to Apply
If you know marine engines, respect the ocean, and take pride in fixing things properly the first time, we’d like to hear from you.
Send your CV and a short cover letter outlining your marine experience to: Dylan Siketa
