Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mason to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of constructing and repairing various building structures. This role requires precision, physical stamina, and a keen eye for detail, ensuring all projects meet our high standards of quality and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building and Repairing Structures: Construct and repair brick, stone, tile, and concrete structures according to project specifications.
  • Reading Blueprints: Interpret and execute plans from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches to accurately lay out the structure.
  • Mixing Mortar: Prepare mortar or other adhesives according to standard formulas and mixing procedures.
  • Setting Bricks and Stones: Place bricks and stones in a precise manner to build walls, arches, chimneys, and other structures.
  • Finishing Surfaces: Apply and smooth mortar or other mixture over work surface.
  • Maintaining Tools and Equipment: Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work sites to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of work to ensure it meets design standards and structural integrity.

Job Requirements

  • Educational Background: Grade 10 and Grade 12 equivalent; formal training in masonry or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Proven experience as a Mason or in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using tools and machinery used in masonry work.
  • Physical Requirements: Strong physical stamina and dexterity; ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to precisely follow construction plans and ensure structural integrity.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of construction safety best practices.
