Mechanic

Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Mechanic to join our depot operations team in Konebada, Port Moresby, NCD.

The Role & Responsibilities

The Mechanic is responsible for planning and carrying out Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs of all Vehicles including Road tankers & Forklift. Provide quality service without compromising safety standards on a timely manner and providing feedback in an efficient manner.

• Maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Security & Environmental protection by complying with company and statutory policies and procedures.
• Ensure all light vehicles and Road tanker/Forklifts are always fully functional, by carrying out all routine checks, tests, and service at the appropriate intervals, and taking necessary remedial action to rectify any issues detected.
• Conduct Routine Inspections
• Reporting of Sub-standards from Inspections to the workshop supervisors then gets repairs done on a timely manner.
• Workshop to be always in a neat and tidy state.
• All Repair & Maintenance must be done according to schedules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Tradesman Mechanic, or equivalent with relevant experiences in similar roles.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years work experience in the trade.
• Understanding of different culture, community and or environment issues.
• Communication proficiency
• Problem solving and analysis.
• Mechanical skills and Strategic Thinking
• Good Attitude & Behavior
