Position Summary

The Mechanic services, diagnoses and repairs vehicles and equipment to keep Venturi’s and clients’ assets running safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance on light/heavy vehicles and equipment.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, cooling and hydraulic systems.

• Service and repair diesel engines and fuel systems

• Carry out pre-start, safety and roadworthiness inspections

• Attend client sites for servicing and breakdown response.

• Identify worn or failing parts and recommend repairs before they cause breakdowns

• Scope jobs and estimate labour and parts

• Order parts and keep service schedules and maintenance records up to date.

• Keep the workshop, tools and equipment clean, safe and well maintained

• Complete job documentation: service sheets, inspection checklists, service reports and photo documentation.

• Work within Venturi’s safety requirements and policies.

Requirements

Essential

• Recognised trade qualification as a light vehicle, heavy vehicle or diesel mechanic.

• Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing diesel engines and vehicles.

• Able to read and work from service manuals, parts diagrams and maintenance schedules.

• Good fault-finding skills and confidence using diagnostic tools

• Sound knowledge of workshop safety, safe lifting and safe fuel handling.

• Valid or renewable driver’s licence.

Desirable

• Experience with generator and fuel systems: pumps, dispensers, filtration and tank fittings.

• Exposure to heavy equipment, mining or agricultural machinery.

• Hydraulic system repair experience.
