About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mechanical Technician to join a power generation team. Reporting to the senior Operations & Maintenance Coordinator, this position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the mechanical systems that generate electricity, including turbines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary equipment. You will play a key role in supporting reliable plant operations, maintaining equipment performance, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, including rotating and reciprocating equipment.
• Implement preventative maintenance plans to minimise downtime and ensure equipment longevity.
• Repair or replace defective equipment identified through inspections or reported failures.
• Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of cooling, heating, mechanical, electric driven pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history reports
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, manuals, and maintenance procedures
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with safety standards and operational procedures
• Work closely with other technicians, operator, engineers, to achieve operational goals
• Utilizes precision instruments to ensure proper installation belts, chains, coupling, bearings, and other drive components. Replaces and adjusts packing and seals
• Works with equipment which includes diesel engines, emergency generator, reverse osmosis and EDI water treatment systems, air compressors, motors, pumps, etc.
• Contribute to a safe and clean work environment through strong housekeeping and safety practices

Requirements of the Role

• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Trade, or a related discipline
• Over 3 years relevant Maintenance experience in similar roles in the Power Generation industry.
• Experience working in power plant environments with Solar Turbines, generator turbines, and control systems.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills
• Must be familiar with Power Plant CMMS, MS Office applications, and general computer use as well
• Sound understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Good written and communication skills
