About the role

In this role you will be the designated medic at our exploration camps, where you will be required to handle medical emergencies and manage multiple tasks at once at our remote exploration camp sites. You will render pre-hospital emergency care according to established medical protocols and perform a variety of emergency medical treatment services at the basic and advanced life support levels.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Consistently diagnose or perform actions in the absence of a physician
• You to configure, pack and select only the appropriate medical equipment in a backpack then transport the equipment and perform medical duty on steep slopes in a hot and wet climate over great land distances
• Proper physical condition to conduct long term bush walks for several kilometers in uneven and steep terrain in austere conditions
• Qualifications and strong experience in emergency /pre-hospital emergency medicine ideally with wilderness, search and rescue, and/or expedition support experience
• Up to date and continuous emergency training in skills such as ACLS and PHTLS, and proficiency with advanced airway skills.
• Attend site wide weekly and monthly safety meetings.
• Ensuring that the camp and mine site safety regulations are observed by all K92 employees including contractors, casuals, and visitors to site.
• Assess and report accident to the Management.
• Provide safety induction to new intakes, casuals, contractors, and visitors to site.
• Other duties as required from time to time.
• To ensure the safety rules and other policies of the camp and mine site are observed and report any suspicious activities.
• Attend to other safety administrative duties in line with role and as instructed by immediate Supervisor.
• Maintain safety work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
• Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a

• Advanced knowledge of EMS practices, medical terminology, EMS equipment and medical systems.
• A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health from a recognized institution or equivalent.
• A Diploma or certificate in Health Extension or General Nursing is an advantage.
• Registered HEO, Nurse or CHW
• Current Basic Trauma Life Support certificate
• Current First Aid Advanced Certificate
• Emergency Medical Technician certificate (EMT) would be an advantage
• Must have 5-10 years exposure in Paramedics.
• Training and Assessment experience and qualifications
• 2 – 5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety in mining environment would be an advantage.
• Well-versed experience in mining safety management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer and e-mail correspondences.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
• Strong planning, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Current PNG Driver’s license.
• Exposure to Emergency Response teams, processes.
