Medical Doctor (Estate)

Hargy Oil Palms Limited (HOPL) is an oil-palm producer based in Bialla, West New Britain Province, approximately two and a half hours’ drive east of Kimbe. We invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced Medical Doctor to support our Health Services across the company.

HOPL currently has a vacancy for suitably qualified and experienced Medical Doctor to manage the provision of health services to HOPL Employees and their dependent families in our Navo estates.

Primary Objectives:

Reporting to the Company Doctor the Estate Doctor is a hands on management role responsible for the management and coordination of Health Services through the company’s plantation and mill clinics in the area of responsibility.

The successful candidate must be prepared to be hands on as well as support the Company Doctor progress HOPL’s health initiatives throughout the project areas.

Additional after hours work may be a requirement and is subject to medical situations as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, it is expected that the applicant can demonstrate the following competencies:

• Provide medical examination, diagnosis and treatment for employees and their dependents.
• Manage medical emergencies, referrals and medical evacuations.
• Supervise clinical operations, staffing and medical resources across six estate clinics.
• Lead occupational health, fitness-for-work assessments and workplace health programs.
• Coordinate disease surveillance, health promotion and preventive health activities.
• Ensure compliance with medical, health and safety standards and company policies.

Education and Background

• MBBS or equivalent Medical Degree.
• Registered Medical Practitioner.
• Minimum five (5) years' post-graduate clinical experience.
• Previous management and rural medical experience.
• Experience in emergency patient assessment, stabilization and management will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently in a plantation environment
