Mining Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Mining Supervisor to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 14/07 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo, Wewak or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, the successful incumbent will lead and manage the mining team ensuring safe production and achievement of production targets.

The opportunity

Role accountabilities

• Provide leadership and Supervision of the Mining team.
• Ensuring the Mining Department is always compliant with all safety processes and safe operating procedures.
• Support and drive safety programmes with the mine crew.
• Delegating daily work tasks and ensuring all crew members are aware of their specific shift targets.
• Work with the mining team and other departments to ensure the production plan is achieved accordingly.
• Attend and drive shift prestart meetings and production meetings in a timely manner.
• Plan and supervise execution of road maintenance plan and project works.
• Assist with Accident Investigations on incidents and be familiar with formulating written accident reports.
• Work with trainers to train mine operation personnel and ensure operators are scheduled to attend trainings and refreshers.
• Communicate employee concerns to Senior Management.
• Engage in HR processes such as PIP and DA to support behavioural change for employees.

Scheduling Accountabilities

• Coaching and mentoring of operational and technical teams regarding task and priority scheduling to optimise efficiency.
• Ensuring that the Mining Department develops and uses effective plans that derive from and support the Company and site plans.

People Accountabilities

• Ensuring own performance meets all role requirements.

• Building and developing an effective Mining Department by providing recommendations on individuals and teams for training and development.

Essential

• More than 5 years’ relevant experience in open Pit Mining supervisory roles.
• Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
• Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
• High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
• Commercial acumen relevant to the role

Desirable

• Relevant resources industry work experience
