Summary

The Crane Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the crane on the construction site. They will be responsible for inspecting the ground conditions to ensure safe setup, inspecting the crane for defects, and conducting pre and post-operation inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of material-moving equipment daily according to schedule and instructions from project/site manager, choosing and setting up the right crane, lift or hoist to complete each task safely and efficiently;
  • Inspect machines and equipment daily, perform routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary;
  • Control cranes, lifts and other equipment daily using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportations of materials and safety of all personnel on site;
  • Create and update detailed log of material transportation operations, including information about type of material, movement locations and additional data requested by project manager;
  • Provide additional support to other crane operators as necessary, include working overtime to complete tasks, operating several types of equipment and monitoring junior operators.

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years of work experience with lift trucks, overhead cranes and mobile cranes;
  • Must possess a Valid PNG Class 7 Driver's License ;
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary;
  • Excellent coordination, focus and dedication to following safety protocols;
  • Meticulous to details
  • Able to work Saturday/Sunday
  • Non-betelnut chewer, non-smoker
  • Sober habits

Others

  • Compliance with site-specific safety regulations and protocols.
  • Adherence to any additional crane operation requirements set by local or national regulatory bodies.
  • Regular participation in safety training and meetings.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to operate the crane for extended periods.
