Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant
CARE International in PNG is looking into recruiting a suitable candidate for a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant role based in Buka, ARoB. CARE is an international development and humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. As a non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development efforts and providing emergency assistance. We believe supporting women and girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities.
CARE International in Papua New Guinea has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Agriculture and Health.
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Assistant provides technical and operational support to the implementation of the project's Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system. The role supports data collection, data management, reporting, field monitoring, beneficiary feedback mechanisms and quality assurance processes.
This work is undertaken primarily in Arawa, but will require travel to rural, remote areas. The PQ officer has no direct reports. This Position will have indirect contact with Children or vulnerable adults.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum technical diploma and/or vocational training in Community Development, Statistics, Communications or other related fields and/or minimum 3 years relevant work experience in Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities preferably with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and/or private company;
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of MEL tools and processes;
- Demonstrated experience in quality M&E data collection and analysis and management;
- Demonstrated skills and experience in facilitating training and capacity-strengthening, including understanding of adult learning principles and participatory methodologies and leading participatory analysis is highly desirable;
- Demonstrated experience in following standard policies, procedures and processes and ensure the implementation of basic standard transactions including the management and acquittal of a cash advance;
- A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities;
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, sound judgment, planning, problem solving and team building skills;
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, working in a team and the ability to work under pressure and to organise and manage workload to meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to group objectives and work effectively in a group setting;
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in both Pidgin and English; and
- Fully conversant in Microsoft Word, Excel and numeric skills.
