National Operations Manager - PNG
We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager with experience in the logistics industry or a related field. This position will be based at our Head Office in Port Moresby. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operational activities of the DHL Express network within Papua New Guinea. You will provide strategic leadership and direction to the Operations team, ensuring efficient and effective management of our operations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Establish and uphold exceptional customer service performance indicators, striving to meet or exceed standards for on-time delivery, tracing, dispatch, and claims management, including handling missed pick-ups, ensuring scanning compliance, and maintaining overall service quality.
- Take responsibility for cost optimization within the facility to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage employee and labor relations by applying relevant regulations and internal policies appropriately.
- Ensure the effective implementation, ongoing application, and maintenance of Track and Trace technology, which includes scanning compliance for pickups and deliveries, monitoring on-hand inventory, linking multi-piece shipments, and facilitating transfers to agents.
- Monitor and enhance EBIT by driving profitable revenue growth and effectively managing pick-up and delivery costs, shipment handling, and timely data entry.
- Identify and track route service standards, making operational adjustments as necessary, such as managing driver costs per shipment, stops per hour, driver load capacity, and departure times.
- Organize tasks, assign responsibilities, and develop competent staff through training and counseling, providing opportunities for growth and advancement.
- Provide leadership through decisive decision-making, effective communication, and motivation, fostering an environment where staff can perform their duties proficiently and qualify for advancement.
- Ensure that all staff comply with established company standards, policies, and procedures, including Workplace Conduct, Occupational Health & Safety, and Transport of Dangerous Goods regulations.
- Stay informed about general business conditions and activities of both current and potential competitors to remain competitive in the market.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes and service delivery.
- Deliver outstanding customer service across Papua New Guinea by ensuring clear and effective communication, addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and requests with attentiveness and understanding.
Candidates' requirements for the role include:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience and success in operations leadership role.
- Excellent communication skills - written & verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks/priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Airlines and relevant Government bodies.
- Demonstrated analysis & problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership capabilities and demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse team.
- Minimum of 5 year’s working in an Operations management role.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in industry relevant course.
- Valid Identification Card (NID/ Birth Certificate/ Passport/ Driver’s License)
- Current class 6 driver’s license
- Current police clearance certificate
