Daikin PNG, a leading provider of innovative air conditioning and climate solutions, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) Officer to join our dynamic team
The OHSE Officer will be involved in design, development, and implementation of our company's Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) Management System from the ground up, in alignment with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards
Key responsibilities
- System design and planning
- Gap analysis: Conduct a comprehensive initial review to compare the organization's current OHSE practices against requirements to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Implementation plan: Develop a project plan and timeline for the full implementation of the OHSE Management System, including defining measurable OHSE objectives and targets.
- Context analysis: Work with management to define the context of the organization, identify internal and external issues relevant to OHSE and determine the scope of the management system.
- Policy and procedures: Draft and establish the company's OHSE policy, procedures, and documented information required by the standard.
- Risk management
- Hazard identification: Establish and maintain processes for ongoing hazard identification and OH&S risk assessment, ensuring the hierarchy of controls is used to eliminate hazards and reduce risk.
- Operational controls: Define and implement the operational controls necessary to manage identified OH&S risks in all activities, including procurement and contractors.
- Emergency planning: Develop and maintain procedures for emergency preparedness and response.
- Performance and continual improvement
- Monitoring and measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and processes to monitor, measure, and evaluate the company's OHSE performance.
- Internal audits: Create and manage the internal audit program to assess conformity with ISO 45001/ISO14001 and the effectiveness of the management system.
- Management review: Facilitate management review meetings to present OHSE performance data and drive continual improvement.
- Incident investigation: Establish and lead procedures for investigating incidents, nonconformities, and corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum recent graduate or no more than 2 years working experience
- Education: A degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage workers at all levels.
- Ability to think strategically and translate complex standards into practical, actionable plans.
- A proactive mindset with an emphasis on building and continually improving systems from the ground up
