Occupational Health Safety Environment & Quality Supervisor
Location: Lae, Morobe Province
Responsibilities:
OHSEQ Duties:
- Report to OHSEQ Manager
- Heading all OHSEQ roles and duties to ensure Company Safety Policies and Procedures are efficiently implemented in all Company sites.
- Having monthly meetings with Management concerning branch Safety issues and improvement.
- Compiling and lodging insurance claim for Comprehensive & TPO claims to Insurer.
- Heavily involved in dealing with Third Parties Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) cases and resolve them amicably.
- Compiling Insurance claims summary to Financial Controller and management, having regular meetings and updating.
- Attend to all MVA accident/incident cases and do ICAM investigation analysis report.
- Representing Company and attend all MVA court cases at Traffic court, District Court and Civil court/National Court.
- Coaching and training OHSEQ Coordinator, Safety officers to upskill with the Safety Health, Environment & Quality function on day-to-day operations of the OHSEQ department.
- Making sure safety officers, traffic controllers and other Safety reps to report all Safety issues and non-compliances behaviours to OHSEQ and Business Units.
- Conducting monthly OHSEQ meetings with Safety officers and departmental Safety representatives to address branch Safety issues.
- Ensure OHSEQ WHS yearly calendar objectives are implemented through all branches Lae, Pom & Honiara.
- Conducting Risk Assessment and identifying potential risks and hazards in workplaces/sites thus develop new SOPs to Management for endorsement and implementation.
- Conducting Route Risk Assessment (RRA) for existing highways and new roads and implement Company authorised speed limit geo-fencing with Master Systems to mitigate risks of accidents/incidents.
- Conducting F2F and Zoom meetings with clients on Safety issues arises in Company operations.
- Having regular meetings with respective Business Unit Managers and addressing their Safety issues confronting them in their operations.
- Mandated to resolve and manage safety issues and complaints courteously and efficiently.
- Conducting internal and external audits to meet requirements and achieve higher Standard.
- Making sure Safety department staff conducting random alcohol breathalyser test daily and on suspicious occasions and provide report to each Business Unit Managers.
- Step up and provide assistance/advices to all departmental safety issues with OHSEQ representative and Business Unit managers at respective BUs.
- Responsible for conducting quarterly workplaces risk assessments and implement management planning to control and mitigate risks and hazards on-sites.
- Conducting drivers cargo latching and unlatching and fork lift/reach stacker operators safety evaluation assessment.
- Assist Training department and promote defensives driving and make awareness to new and upcoming drivers and all in respective BU’s Tool-Box-Talk. Continually focused on Safety awareness (Take 5 approach = Stop-Think-Identify-Plan-Proceed).
- Conducting new staff induction and site induction for contractors.
- Overseeing OHS Coordinator and Safety officers conducting JSERA for review and issue of Work Permit/Permit To Work (PTW).
- Responsible in organising sixth monthly service of all fire equipment (fire extinguisher, fire hose, fire hydrant, smoke detectors & etc) in Lae branch.
- Responsible for conducting yearly Emergency Fire Drill and compile report to Management for Audit purposes.
- Overseeing all Compliance licenses from Government Regulatory Departments for annual renewals.
- Responsible in ordering annual Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Dunlop PNG for branch and assisting other branches for their PPE orders.
- Always dress in company uniform and appropriate PPE, take pride in your appearance and that of your teams.
- Responsible in providing advices to Company Safety Strategic Development plan and Strategy endorsement by Company Management.
- Taking Lead in advocating and promoting accident/incident FREE month/year attitude.
- Responsible for compiling Lae branch monthly OHSEQ Performance Analysis Report to Management and All for improvement and Compliance.
- Mandated to overseeing ALL Staff, Supervisors, Managers and Management to 100% adhere to all Company Safety Policies and Compliance.
- Be a role model to all staff on all Safety aspects and Company Policies.

- Obliged to have a Zero tolerance and report non-adherence to Company Policies or fraudulent activates.
DG Ops Function & Duties:
- Overseeing all DG operations and training and mentoring DG Ops Coordinator to his function.
- Arranging DG monthly ops meetings with ops team and special Management meetings.
- Ensuring all DG Customer objectives are achieved in accordance with their plans.
- Overseeing DG Class 1/Explosives Police Clearance are prepared and lodged in time for Police Metropolitan Superintendent to endorse.
- Ensure Safety team must conduct pre-departure checks for all DG trucks prior to commence DG tasks.
- Liaise with Export team for DGs (Explosives/AN/ANE/Cyanide) are booked and handled properly with DG drivers to wharves.
- Follow up with Import team for DGs (Explosives/AN/ANE/Cyanide) shipment ETA, Clearance and gate passes for Transport DG drivers to cart to its destination safely.
- Training and mentoring DG ops admin to facilitate all DG documents in timely manner.
- Providing Transport and Logistics advice to DG ops team for smooth operations.
- Ensure all DG ops dockets and invoices are charged accordingly to clients.
MUST HAVE:
- Qualification OHS officer level 1- 4 or preferred OHS Diploma.
- Possess valid driving licence class 3, 6 or 4
- Good on Excel spreadsheet, MS Microsoft & PowerPoint presentation
