Operations Coordinator (Goroka Based)

CARE International in PNG is recruiting a Operations Coordinator based in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province. CARE is an international development and humanitarian aid organization fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. As a non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development efforts and providing emergency assistance. We believe supporting women and girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities.

The Operations Coordinator (OC) serves as the line supervisor for, procurement, logistics and administration and ensures that these functions provide efficient and effective support to the Country Office, field offices and all projects in accordance with established CARE Australia (CA) and donor policies and regulations. Working closely with the Operations Director and the Operations Coordinator will work to strengthen Logistics and Administration systems and processes

This position will have 3 direct reports and is expected to pursue a clear and compelling vision and motivate high performance.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent and/ or a minimum 4–5-year relevant work experience, preferably for an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) or private company:
  • Demonstrated high level organisational, and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex
  • Proven understanding of working with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and a willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading, people management and motivating a team.
  • Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in both Pidgin and English; and
  • Fully conversant in Microsoft Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
